Winter Checklist

Snowstorms have the potential to stop drivers in their tracks. So it is a good idea to make sure you have the necessary supplies to stay safe during the winter months.

Truck Supplies:

□ De-icer and scraper – Having a good scraper and de-icer will help make sure your windshield is clean and clear while you are OTR

□ Putty knife and hammer – With how fast air tanks can freeze over when you are driving in the snow it is smart to check and make sure that there is no snow or ice packed into your air brakes. Your motor might not produce enough heat to melt the snow, so having a putty knife and hammer can help you knock the snow out from your air brakes.

□ Shovel and a bag of salt, sand or kitty litter – If your tires are turning and not gaining any traction, using salt, sand or kitty litter can give you that extra traction that you might need to get going.

□ Tire chains and installation tools – Tire chain can help with traction as well in certain situations. Make sure you know the tire chain laws of the state you are in, you can check each state’s law here.
